The following pictures were sent to me by Joe Sparks. Joe is the proud owner of a black '73 GTO. We do not see '73's all that often let alone 6 of them side-by-side!. Joe did not give me much in the way of information about where this gathering took place. To say the least, I was fascinated and suspect you will be as well.

2007 Hot Rod Summer Nationals - Springfield, IL

 

Members Rick Bogoff, Rick Last, Steve Lucas, Jim Martino and Bob Zeiger made the trip to the Hot Rod Summer Nationals on September 24th, 25th and 26th this year. By all reports they had a great time and each of them came home with an award.

 

We have Bob Zeiger to thank for the below pictures.

2007 POCI Nationals - Tulsa, OK

 

It is my understanding that Brandon & Lee Ann Goodwin were awarded the below impressive trophy in recognition of having scored more that 450 out of a possible 500 judged points in back-to-back years. CONGRATULATIONS!

 

 


 

March, 2006 - Gainesville, FL

 

Arnie Beswick is inducted into The International Drag Racing Hall of Fame. This took place at the Paramount Plaza Hotel & Suites in Gainesville, Florida. He was among 9 other inductees which include the likes of Shirley Muldowney, Bruce Larson and Steve Gibbs.

Arnie Beswick receives The Legends of Motorsports Lifetime Achievement Award at a special brunch held in conjunction with the 44th annual Car Quest World of Wheels show - McCormick Place, Chicago, IL.

We were there and we have pictures, and brief comments, to share.

I was told that 210 individuals attended the $25 per plate affair which included tickets to visit The 44th Annual World of Wheels.

LEGEND OF MOTORSPORTS GUILD LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD.

“A Special brunch honoring special people”

A “Legends of Motorsports” brunch was held on Saturday January 28, 2006 during the 44th annual CAR QUEST World of Wheels presented by Denny Guest’s South Oak Dodge located at McCormick Place.  

The legends of Motorsports Guild  Lifetime Achievement Award”  was established to honor outstanding individuals whose creativity, dignity, integrity, industriousness, and accomplishments on a local and national basis, have enhanced the status of or significantly contributed to the growth of Motorsports

The award is presented in three categories:

  • Racing - all forms, builder, owner, driver, and crew.
  • Custom - builder, designers, manufactures, of and to specialty vehicles.
  • Media / Promoter - press in any media, event personality, photographers.

 We are honored this year to induct into the Legends of Motorsports Guild the following:

  • From Racing: Drag Racings Legendary Arnie “The Farmer” Beswick.
  • From Media: Long time automotive enthusiast Sun Times Automotive writer Mr. Dan Jedlicke.
  • From Custom: Motorcycle legend “Willie GDavidson grandson of the founder of Harley Davidson motorcycles and V.P. of Styling at the Harley-Davidson Motor Company.
